SAHU (Society for the Advancement of Humanity) is a small, inspiring charity doing invaluable work in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania). They are dedicated to helping relieve the suffering of the poorest victims of HIV/AIDS namely widows and orphans and those most at risk from this disease.
SAHU is paying rent and providing food and other essential items for many women like Geneve, a widow who has taken in three children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. They share her tiny one roomed hut which has a leaky roof. SAHU’s soup kitchens for orphaned school children, who were going all day without food, have seen profound benefits in these localities.
RflUK is helping them, by providing financial and technical support to expand their operations, including money and advice on setting up an office, construction advice and fundraising support to build a community centre for people rejected by society. This inspiring community will offer counselling services, run alternative income generating projects, provide skills training to enable self reliance whilst practicing sustainable agriculture.
