Reverence for Life UK announces its 4th annual essay prize, worth £200.
This prize aims to promote the philosophy of Reverence for Life, developed by Dr Albert Schweitzer, humanitarian and Nobel Peace Prize winner.
Reverence for Life is best defined by us individually, but here is one useful definition: “Reverence for Life says that the only thing we are really sure of is that we live and want to go on living. This is something that we share with everything else that lives, from elephants to blades of grass – and, of course, every human being. So we are brothers and sisters to all living things, and owe to all of them the same care and respect, that we wish for ourselves.”
(For more information, please look around our website, and our sister websites.)
The prize is worth £200 and asks how Reverence for Life can affect our everyday lives.
Essays or illustrative stories may be rooted in any discipline; additionally, there are no constraints on the age or status of applicants.
Particular credit will be given to carefully thought out and well expressed ideas on how Reverence for Life can be implemented in modern life.
Essays or stories of up to 5000 words will be accepted up until Friday 3rd February 2012, submitted either in paper copy to: Reverence for Life UK Essay Prize, Kenwood Cottage, Croydon, nr Royston, Hertfordshire, SG8 0DR, or electronically to: essay2012
